Recently CareerBuilder.com writer, Patrick Erwin, wrote an article for CNN listing 10 companies that offer work at home options. Spheris, an Employer Partner with Career Step, was at the top of the list. Erwin said that, “In the last few years, working from home has gone from being a rarity to a reality.” Career Step, one of the nation’s leading providers of online medical transcription training, is a manifestation of that reality.
Career Step has been dedicated to enhancing the lives of its students by providing training for the skills necessary to become a proficient, home-based medical transcriptionist. In 2005 Career Step partnered with Spheris, a leader in outsourced medical transcription, to broaden the opportunities available to Career Step students.
With the partnership, Career Step began offering the Spheris Training Track to students. The Spheris Training Track was designed to incorporate specific training and hiring requirements of Spheris into Career Step’s successful medical transcription training program.
By forming this partnership Spheris was able to minimize the training period required for new employees. Graduates from the Spheris Training Track are given a giant stepping-stone into their career with Spheris, or another similar company. Graduates from this specialized program are eligible to apply for more advanced positions within Spheris rather than have to start at entry-level positions.
Career Step is pleased to partner with Spheris in providing the best opportunities possible for its graduates. The relationship between Career Step and Spheris continues to be strengthened through their collaboration in offering the skills necessary to make working at home as a medical transcriptionist a reality.
