Back to School

Now that the kids are heading back to school, you should have some more “free time,” right? We know that “free time” is seldom heard of but hopefully now that summer is coming to an end, you will be able to dedicate more time to working through your course.

Whether you are just starting out, started but then took a break for the summer, or are almost finished with the course, you should re-evaluate your schedule and make sure you are on track to complete the course before your expiration date. To do this, check out the study planner tool.

First, decide when you want to finish your course by. If you have enough time, you should try to finish all of the course work at least a month before your expiration date. This allows for enough time for the final exam process. Once you have picked your desired completion date you can set up your schedule.

In the Study Planner, select “Choose completion date goal:,” enter your desired completion date, and then click Generate Projection. This will calculate how many hours you will need to work on the course each week, and then you can set up your weekly schedule.

It is likely that your kids will come back from school with homework—20 minutes of reading, a math worksheet, and sight words to memorize. Just as they need to do their homework each day of the week, you should set up your week to accommodate your homework as well. If your children can do their homework on their own, have a ‘homework party’ where everyone in the family does homework at the same time.

No matter what, make sure you get back to working on your course. Even if you are unable to spend many hours each day on your program, make sure you do at least a little bit each day. Make continual progress, even if it is only a couple of pages a day.

Last of all, no matter what happens, do not get discouraged. If you are frustrated or stuck with something, contact us in Student Support at 1-888-657-5752.
