Happy Administrative Professionals Week!
Every year, the last full week of April is Administrative Professionals Week! The Wednesday of that week is Administrative Professionals Day! You are so special and so important you not only get a day, but you get a whole week!
Administrative Professionals Day was originally organized in 1952 by the National Secretaries Association, which is now known as the International Association of Administrative Professionals, or IAAP. It was created in an effort to recognize administrative professionals for all of their contributions in the workplace and to attract others to the career.
Administrative Professionals Day was set apart to recognize “the secretary, upon whose skills, loyalty, and efficiency the functions of business and government offices depend.” This day recognizes a variety of job titles, such as secretary, receptionist, administrative assistant, office coordinator, administrative specialist, executive assistant, and office manager.
Administrative Professionals Week has grown to become one of the largest workplace observances. Many offices celebrate with flowers or candy, but consider asking your company to invest in your future with tuition reimbursement, additional training or education, or a membership to participate in a professional organization!
