Career Step, an online provider of career-focused education and corporate training, has released a new video designed to help students and career seekers explore the opportunities available in the medical coding and billing field. The video details what medical coders and billers do, what the current demand is for these professionals and the education requirements for entering this field.

“Medical coding and billing is an option that’s often overlooked when people are considering a career in healthcare,” said Jerolyn Robertson, Career Step Vice President of Academics. “However, there is an incredible need for these professionals, and it is a great choice because it offers great starting salaries and a variety of career advancement opportunities while requiring less than a year of training to enter the field.”

The video introduces the field, describing the daily responsibilities of medical coding and billing professionals as well as job demand and average salaries. It then discusses the Career Step training program and how the school’s Professional Medical Coding and Billing course prepares students to take advantage of the opportunities available in this field.

“Many of the students we talk to know that they want a new career, but they are unsure of which career to pursue,” said Ben Hartman, Career Step Director of Admissions. “Our goal is to help them quickly find the information they need to choose the best career for them through videos like our new medical coding and billing profile. Students can now get a good idea of what they can expect from a medical coding and billing career in just a few minutes.”

Career Step has been training quality healthcare professionals for over 20 years, and the school’s Professional Medical Coding and Billing is one of the few online certificate programs approved by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). The course prepares students to earn the Certified Coding Associate (CCA) credential offered by AHIMA as well as the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credentials offered by the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).

Hello. I am interested in returning to a professional job field utilizing my more than 20 years experience in the corporate world that I possess. I have been a Substitute teacher for the last 13 years, however, now that my youngest child is graduating; I desire to find a different challenging career than I have been doing.

I realize that my skills need to be updated to fit the current computer-literate world than I currently have.

I would like to learn more about the certificate programs that you offer and what financial aid I might be eligible for to assist me in obtaining what I require to feel confident in my ability to achieve my goals for my new chapter of careers in my life.

Would you please respond with information in order for me to choose what is best to fit my time schedule and budget?

Thank you so much, and I look forward to hearing from a representative in the near future.
