Video Infographic: Are Work at Home Jobs an Opportunity or a Scam?

Ah, the age old question: aren’t work-at-home jobs all just scams?

Of course we here at Career Step heartily disagree—after all we’ve been training people for real work-at-home careers for over 20 years. But there are definitely work-at-home scams out there. The trick is just learning to spot the real opportunities from those you should avoid.

To help you make the very best decisions, we’ve put together an infographic video that explores how you can tell a work-at-home scam from a real work-at-home opportunity. Help us spread the word and share, pin, post, and tweet our Work-at-Home Jobs: Dream Opportunity or Scam? infographic video today!

I would love to work from home but I am unsure what I can do from home? I have a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree and I am also a certified teacher. Any suggestions for something I can do from home?

  5. Career Step September 08, 2015

    Hi Stephanie,

There are lots of different careers that offer the opportunity to work from home, such as medical transcription. I’ve forwarded your question to an Academic Advisor that has more information on the different careers that offer work-at-home opportunities, and they should contact you shortly.

    Best wishes!

I am currently on FMLA leave and short term disability awaiting a diagnosis. I have been in banking and have comminuted for over a year causing a great strain on my finances as well as my unaddressed condition. I feel it is time for me to take my own administrative abilities and apply them to a home career. If I am unable to drive or medication affects me at different times of the day I can be productive. Medical encoding sounds perfect but can it work for me?

  7. Coding Support September 10, 2015

    Hi SandyDavis,
Medical Transcriptionists are more likely to work from home. There are a few companies that hire entry level coders to work from home, but they are not as abundant as MT’s.

Best of luck with your diagnosis.

I would like to work from home I have two Associates, one in I.S.T. and E.E.T. I am interested in Medical billing and coding but I don’t want any debt I can’t afford because I am paying child support and other bills. Tell me who can help with financial aid.
