Referrer Spotlight: Ingrid Fernandez
My name is Ingrid and I went from a series of dead-end office jobs to having a professional career. Now, I can say with full confidence that I have complete control over my future. When I graduated from high school, I was ready to take on the world. I started working as a Senior Loan Specialist in a mortgage office, and I thought I was going to gain something out of this profession. In my mind, I would climb the ladder of success in just a few years, but really I was working hard and never seeing results.
I had come to realize that I was lacking something important that was holding me back (education and training), not to mention a job that truly made me happy. I had spent years working in this mortgage office that didn’t excite me at all. After doing some research and exploring my options, I found the perfect career choice, “medical transcription”.
Medical transcription combined everything I was looking for in a career. Many medical transcriptionists work from home, and have control over when and how much they work. I loved the idea of being my own boss, and working independently. Since then, I’m proud to say I’ve been in this profession for 8 ½ years.
On the other hand, I am always being approached on how one can become a medical transcriptionist, so I decided to create a free website explaining all the steps that I went through to make that possible. I knew about the Career Step Referral program and decided to add it onto my page. With this addition to my webpage, I am thankful for the extra income I’m receiving every month.
My suggestion to anyone interested in becoming a medical transcriptionist:
A medical transcription program offers training, of course, but it also offers financial assistance for those in need. And a great program has resources for students to find a job after completing the program. Put all of these things together, and you will have the ingredients for a worthwhile education in medical transcription with Career Step!
