New Employee Spotlight

Michelle, pharmacy technician support advisor
Hi, my name is Michelle. I am the new Pharmacy Technician Student Support Advisor. I am available to help address concerns that you may have, and help direct you to available resources regarding our curriculum and procedures.

Let me tell you more about myself. I have lived in many places including, Ohio, Virginia, Nebraska, Mississippi, Tennessee and Utah. I am a proud mother of three amazing children, ages 18, 14, and 11.

A couple of years ago, I decided to go back to school because I have always had an interest in the medical field. I wanted a career that would lead me to the highest possible income in the shortest amount of time. I also wanted a career that was challenging and rewarding. I was very excited and determined to succeed. I decided to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician, and completed my coursework and externship in a few months. I applied myself and studied a lot to be prepared to take the Pharmacy Technician
Certification Board Exam—and I passed the first time!

I have worked in an institutional pharmacy as well as a retail pharmacy. The things I really liked about the institutional pharmacy were being able to help in preparing the IV batch, stocking Accudose and Suremeds, and working closely with doctors and nurses. I really like the retail pharmacy as well; you really get to know people on a first name basis, you become friends with them, and really care about their well being. Helping people improve their quality of life is very rewarding. My experience and knowledge in both areas of pharmacy makes it easy for me to be able to help every student. No matter what direction you choose, either retail or institutional, you will really enjoy being a pharmacy
technician.

I recently joined the Career Step family and am looking forward to helping each of you succeed in your new career path. With a Career Step education and dedication, you can achieve your goal of becoming a pharmacy technician. It is a great career and a profession you can feel proud of. You are making a step in your career, so dedicate yourself, set
goals, and believe you can succeed and you will be successful.
