b. How did they help you?
A. I used graduate services to tweak my resume and cover letter. They also helped me know what to expect from the NHA on the CMAA exam.
Q. How long have you worked in the industry?
A. Approximately 6 months
Q. What is your job title?
A. Office Manager (believe it or not)! It is a small office, so I am the day staff and then they have a night person, so we do all aspects of the work by default.
Q. What are your job responsibilities?
A. Patient check-in, scheduling, insurance billing (some primary but mostly secondary and PI for now), posting insurance payments, patient billing, bank deposits, some handling of patients in treatment rooms, phones, insurance verification, etc.
Q. What is your favorite part of your job?
A. Dealing with patients
Q. What is your least favorite part of your job?
A. Rectifying improperly processed insurance claims/payments
Q. How did your Career Step training prepare you for your position?
A. In every way. The EHR software and patient handling is a learn-on-the-job process, however.
Q. What was the hiring process you went through?
A. The doctor called me on the phone. We spoke for approximately 25-30 minutes, and then I went in and met him. I trained for a week and have been there ever since!
b. What kinds of questions were you asked in the interview?
a. I can’t remember exactly because I had been on quite a few interviews at that point. They were the basics about training, experience, goals, and salary requirements.
