I have never been the person who had it all planned out. I never knew what I wanted to be when I grew up, except that I wanted to be a mom. When I was pregnant with my daughter I was employed with a local bank. I hated the idea of putting her in day care, but, financially, I needed the job. Our goal was to pay off our debt so that when we decided to have another child I could stay home. When I became pregnant with my son, the plan was to take off a year to be home with both kids. I was in heaven. I love my children, and loved the fact that I was home and able to experience every moment with them.
After a year, we realized that we were doing okay on one income. I loved being home but wanted to contribute as well. I decided to babysit a couple of kids and bake cakes as a way of bringing in just a little. After doing that for a couple of years, I knew I needed something different that would still allow me to be home with the kids. I decided to look into jobs that I could do from home and stumbled upon medical transcription. It was perfect! I love typing and have always found the medical field fascinating. After researching multiple training options, I settled on Career Step.
Initially, I was skeptical. What if it’s a scam? What if it doesn’t prepare me for the “real deal?” What if I fail? I’m so grateful for Career Step and the Medical Transcription Editor program. It was exactly what I needed. Everything about the course has trained me and prepared me for working from home. I love it! I now have a job that I consider my dream job. It allows me to be a part of something I enjoy and keeps me at home with my children. I can work my own hours and can be there for their school functions, ballgames, etc.
It isn’t always easy. Some days can be long, but it is worth it to me so I don’t miss out on these few years I have with my kids. I have had several people ask me about what I do and how I got started, and I always refer them to Career Step. Even better, with the referral program I have been able to make some extra money just by sharing my referral page with others on social media. That bonus money has been wonderful.
Career Step truly has been a blessing. Thank you, Career Step, for helping to make this stay-at-home mom’s dreams come true.
