Giving Back

We’re in the business of changing lives—and we want to make sure that’s not limited to our learners and employees! Giving back is something we take seriously, and there’s always a way for employees to get involved in supporting the community.

Charity Miles

Workout Wednesdays

Once a month—and twice a month in the summer—Career Step hosts Workout Wednesday!, or WoW!. This gives us a chance to get out during lunch or at the end of the day and walk, run, or ride. We get to be active, AND we track our miles. As an added incentive, Career Step makes a donation to a local charity for each and every mile we put in (we’re currently working on doubling last year’s donation!).

Read more about last year’s donation on our blog.

Special Olympics

Special Olympics

Career Step also supports the Special Olympics. Several times in the summer, Special Olympians participate in our WoW! events, giving employees a chance to host the Olympians and help them as they’re training for their competition.

There are also a number of Special Olympics events throughout the year that we volunteer at. We help with events, act as race starters and timers, and cheer the athletes on.

Operation Purple

Operation Purple camps are week-long adventures for children of deployed military members. Studies have confirmed that military kids have higher levels of stress and anxiety than their civilian peers. Operation Purple camps, run by the National Military Family Association, are designed to give children the tools they need to deal with the stress of military deployment. They provide a memorable camp experience with kids who are just like them.

This cause is close to our hearts because it makes such a difference for these kids and because many of our learners have military ties (online education is ideal for military families who frequently move). For the past several years, we’ve held a donation drive in honor or Military Family Appreciation Month as part of our Referral Program. Last year we were able to donate $5,500!

Military families are our nation's families, and they need our support. Together we are stronger.
